Joeri Christiaen

After 3 years of traditional animation studies at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent (Belgium), Joeri started a company called Smokescreen in 2000 with five classmates, to develop a TV series.

With that same group, he then worked as leading animator on the feature film LES TRIPLETTES DE BELLEVILLE. A few years later Joeri joined Grid VFX, where he storyboarded and animated a number of commercials.

Together with the owners of Grid VFX, in 2007 he launched a new entity called Tinkertree, to develop animation content.

Soon after, Joeri came up with the concept of PLANKTON INVASION for which he created an online mini-series of six 'webisodes'. He is now directing PLANKTON INVASION the TV series, produced by TeamTO in coproduction with Canal+, Vivi Film and Tinkertree.

Joeri has also directed a few episodes of the cartoon TV series OSCAR'S OASIS, a TeamTO/Tuba Entertainment coproduction, currently airing.

Within THURISTAR, Joeri is developing, directing and producing indie short films and other projects with his partners Perrine and Frederik.
